Walt Viera is a living testament to the transformative power of God’s grace. Born into a turbulent home marked by abuse, neglect, and chaos, he was the youngest of six children from his father’s first marriage. His early years were shaped by his parents’ violent conflicts and eventual divorce, followed by his mother’s struggle with alcoholism. By age 16, he was navigating life on his own, working odd jobs and grappling with the lure of a reckless lifestyle filled with drugs, partying, and fleeting relationships. At 21, after a desperate attempt to end his life, he encountered God’s mercy in a profound way, sparking a radical transformation that set the course for his future.
For 18 years, Walt Viera served as a UPS driver, providing the stability for his family that he lacked growing up. Answering a divine calling, he then dedicated 19 years to FamilyLife, a division of Cru, before stepping into his current role as a full-time Chaplain with Corporate Chaplains of America. His journey from a broken past to a life of purpose is a powerful story of redemption, resilience, and faith. Through his ministry and writing, Walt shares the hope of the Gospel, offering encouragement to those who feel lost or hopeless.
